Providence officials plan to tell Rhode Island lawmakers they would prefer if the state's school-zone speed camera law included a lower fine for all violations rather than a tiered system that penalizes drivers based on the number of violations they receive.
Drivers who were cited by city speed cameras before April 15 will be given a $20 refund on their paid tickets, according to a settlement agreement approved Thursday night by the City Council Committee on Claims and Pending Suits.
