Flock Said Its Cameras Don't Track People. Then a Reporter Proved Them Wrong On Video

Flock Safety’s Condor PTZ camera actively tracks and zooms in on individuals, contradicting the company’s public statements that its cameras focus on vehicles and do not track people. During a demonstration, a Condor camera followed and zoomed on a reporter, even as a Flock representative denied tracking capabilities. Investigations by InvestigateTV and 404 Media revealed that Condor cameras are designed for human movement detection, stream live video to police, and have been found with live feeds exposed to the open internet without passwords. Training materials show officers can track suspects “from location to location.” Flock’s official messaging appears to apply only to its plate reader technology, sidestepping the Condor’s people-tracking functions, raising significant privacy concerns about widespread, unconsented surveillance.
