Body cameras, initially promoted as tools for police accountability and transparency, have instead become instruments that reinforce police power, obscure accountability, and facilitate mass surveillance. Despite overwhelming evidence that body cameras do not reduce police violence, political and media narratives continue to push them as solutions, diverting attention from deeper systemic issues in policing and immigration enforcement.
