human distress sounds, effectively recording conversations and emotional
states without public consent. This mass audio surveillance raises
legal, privacy, and safety issues, including potential false police
alerts, chilling effects on free speech, and risks of data misuse.
Experts and cities are calling for transparency, regulation, or removal
of these systems.
