Georgia’s Peach Pass toll system is erroneously billing drivers, creating significant financial and bureaucratic hardships. One woman was sent to collections for a violation on a van she had already sold, with the toll authority demanding private records she couldn’t legally obtain to prove her innocence. Another driver faces over $5,000 in fines after his account was closed without his knowledge, with notifications delayed by over six months. In both cases, the State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA) offered little help, citing privacy laws to avoid accountability. A resolution for one driver only occurred after media intervention, highlighting a systemic failure in due process and customer service. Despite a new app, reports of delayed and unjust fees persist, suggesting the problem is ongoing and widespread, effectively punishing drivers for administrative errors beyond their control.
