Red light cameras, speed limit enforcement cameras. This draconian idea has been around for many years. It does not really catch on, because it does not really promote safety as they claim. It does what it's designed to do. Collect revenue.
Proposed legislation permitting local law enforcement to issue traffic citations based on images taken by red light cameras did not make it past the Senate Growth and Infrastructure Committee this week.
The bill, co-sponsored by representatives Stephen Humphrey and Jovan Melton, would repeal the right for local jurisdictions to use all automated vehicle identification systems, including photo radar vans and red-light cameras.
